What Happens if You Continue Without Linking in Paladins
In Paladins, new players often wonder how to unlock new Champions. There are currently 38 available Champions in the Paladins roster, each occupying one of four different classes: Flank, Front Line, Damage, and Support.
Players are given access to a select few Champions for free on a rotation system. If you like a particular Champion and want to have permanent access to them once the rotation changes, you'll need to unlock them in Paladins.
To help clarify the process, we've put together a guide on how to unlock Champions in Paladins!
How to Unlock Champions in Paladins
Paladins is a free-to-play game where players are given a few different ways to unlock new Champions. The main way to unlock new Champions in Paladins is by purchasing them using in-game currency like Gold or Crystals. Players can earn Gold as a Daily Reward login bonus, by playing matches, completing Daily Quests, and ranking up Champions.
You can also use Gold to rank your Champions up faster by paying for the remaining XP (experience points). Note that there's a cap on the amount of Gold you can earn each day at 10,000 Gold per day. Aside from using Gold to unlock new Champions, Crystals are a form of premium currency that can be also be used to unlock new Champions.
Crystals are harder to earn than Gold, and are often bought via microtransactions in the Paladins Store. However, players can earn Crystals without purchasing them as Daily Quest rewards, Daily Reward login bonuses, and through the Refer-A-Friend system. To see how much Gold and Crystals your account has, head to the home screen on Paladins and look in the upper right-hand corner.
There, you'll see your username, account level, and number of available Crystals and Gold. Now that you know how to earn Gold and Crystals in Paladins, the next step is using these forms of currency to unlock new Champions. For the most part, Champions can be purchased using 30,000 Gold or 200 Crystals.
Newly released Champions will be more expensive at 60,000 Gold and 300 Crystals. There are sometimes sales and discounts that reduce the amount of Gold and/or Crystals needed to unlock Champions. Additionally, there are special weekends in Paladins that increase the amount of Gold or Crystals you earn, like the "Crystal Storm" weekend where you're given more opportunity to earn Crystals in Paladins.
As you can tell, unlocking all Champions in Paladins can be a real grind. If every Champion is priced at 30,000 Gold, you'll need to rack up a whopping 1,140,000 Gold to unlock them all. Fortunately, there is an easier way to unlock Champions in Paladins. To immediately unlock all current and future Champions in Paladins, you'll need to purchase the Champion's Pack.
The Champion's Pack is priced at $29.99 and can be purchased for Paladins on all platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The Champion's Pack can be purchased at any time, even if you've already started unlocking Champions in Paladins. In fact, purchasing the Champion's Pack will refund you the Gold used to purchase those Champions.
Some would argue that $29.99 is a steep price to pay to unlock all Champions in Paladins. However, others would say the one-time purchase simply transforms Paladins from a free-to-play game into a game you pay $29.99 for, as it offers you the full experience without having to grind. By running through the steps above, you should know the various ways in which you can unlock new Champions in Paladins.
Let us know in the comments below if you're working on unlocking new Champions by grinding for Gold and Crystals, or if you decided to purchase the Champion's Pack.
